Semiconductor technology, design, and process have
been rapidly evolving ever since the beginning of this decade. The
demand for commercial ICs is far from retreating and competition to
secure a larger portion of the world market has been fiercer than ever
before. The IC Design's team objective and target is to meet
customers’ vision in developing ICs for finer and higher performance
specification, and yet still have the ability to provide a competitive
pricing through cost effective development.
The 3 semiconductor
technologies which our IC design team utilize are Bipolar, Complementary Metal
Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS), & Bipolar
Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (BiCMOS).
Through these technologies, the IC design team has contributed
significantly to the growing list of Renesas' product lineup in both
standard linear and Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC)
devices.
The end consumer products which these ICs are made for
are in the audio visual segments. Standard linear devices such as
op-amps and comparators are commonly found in consumer appliances such
as portable disc players, radios, Hi-Fi sets & MP3 players, and
thus are designed for general purpose usage. ASIC devices however are
designed based on a customer’s specific needs and requirements. Some
of the examples of ASIC design coming from RDM's design team are
electronic volume control ICs, analog front-end ICs, voltage
regulation ICs, I/O switches, audio/video switches & DC to DC
converter ICs.
The future direction of the IC design team is to
provide a one-stop support for our customers in the form of local
& low cost design support. As the design center grows from
strength to strength, the IC design team is continually maturing over
time in terms of its technological capabilities to serve our customer
better. |
